Our team has recently delivered the results of a sedimentological mapping and stratigraphic logging work on exposed sections of the Upper Fars sequence in North Iraq, after recent drilling operations have shown encouraging signals of potential HC deposits in the succession. The objective of this study was to map in detail the lithological sequence within the Upper Fars interval, focusing on the sand bodies (main reservoir) and their later extension, by collecting data in a fieldwork campaign, aided by drone images acquisitions to propose depositional models based on the geometry of the mapped sequence. The new findings will be used to lay the foundation of a more structured exploration campaign with target the Upper Fars sequence. Thanks to the team! It was engaging and fun!
