Recently we have reached the remarkable amount of 20,000 scanned thin sections for several clients on samples coming from different part of the world, using the “Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 ED Scanner”.
Starting from 2012, we have been providing high resolution images (4000 dpi) stored into an interactive database containing all the information of the thin sections, which allows to make filters and queries depending on the user needs. The database is also built to allow the user a direct access to the TS images via hyperlink and can be modified based on the available information (http://geplan.it/thin-section-scanning).
